Alien Visions Boba’s Bounty Juice Review

Written by on February 2, 2011 in Alien Visions Juice, E-Juice Reviews, Reviews - 5 Comments

Boba’s Bounty is one of those juices that is mysterious but delicious, controversial but agreeable, subtle but flavorful… It’s an enigma. I’ve seen it described as a semi-sweet tobacco flavor, a chocolaty coconut flavor, a european cigarette flavor, a caramel vanilla flavor… the list goes on and on. While I’m not too sure about some of the things I’ve read about it, one thing is for certain; this juice is awesome.

Ben and Christy (owners of Alien Vision E-Juice) have kept the secret of Boba’s under wraps since the start. There isn’t a single place online that you’ll be able to pull up an “official” description of what this juice is supposed to taste like, and that is part of what makes it so intriguing. It also allows a person enjoying it for the first time to form their own, unbiased opinion on the flavors they are experiencing out of the stuff. With that said, this review is based on what I think it tastes like and why I like it, but it could be completely different to some others out there.

We base our juice reviews on a scale of 1-5 broken down into the following categories:

  • Flavor
  • Vapor Production
  • Throat Hit
  • Consistency

The overall score will be these categories averaged together.

Flavor:  ★★★★½

The reason this juice scores so highly in the flavor category is not necessarily because it has a TON of flavor. Rather, it has a wonderful balance of flavors. In fact, the flavor of this juice is subtle in the same ways a good tobacco flavor from Backwoods Brew (like RY4) is subtle. There is a very carefully crafted blend of flavors in there that all meld together to make it something completely unique and refreshing. What I’m tasting in Boba’s is something like an Aztec mocha, in a way… It’s got a bit of spice to it, a bit of cocoa to it, a small amount of either coffee or cola, and finished off with a wonderfully warm tobacco undertone. At times, I get a hint of caramel or vanilla (something sweet, but very mild) but other times I don’t get that at all. While this all may sound confusing, let me assure you… it is.

Boba’s is not a juice that will punch you in the face with flavor. A big part of why I like it as much as I do is that the flavor almost evolves over time and it is very hard to get sick of. When I first received my little sampler bottle of the stuff, I dripped a few drops onto a brand new LR 306 atty and took a few puffs. My reaction was “I don’t really get what all the fuss is about. It’s good, but not the best juice ever”… I pulled it back out a day later and was a bit more impressed, but decided to give it a week or so. The third time I pulled it out was about 5 days later and I instantly loved it. Something happened to me or the juice that just “clicked” all of a sudden and from that point on I was hooked. In fact, I just used up the last of my sampler bottle and instantly went onto Alien Vision’s site and ordered 18ml of the stuff. Honestly, I will probably go ahead and purchase a 100ml bottle of it once this is gone. It’s that good.

Vapor Production:  ★★★★½

Most of Alien Vision‘s juices are 100% VG. There are a select few that do have some PG in the mix, but it is always 10% or less. In fact, Ben started the company due to the fact that he had a PG intolerance and wanted to create great juices for the community that had little or no PG in them. In my opinion, what he’s managed to do is redefine what VG-only liquids are capable of (in all arenas).

This juice will produce as much vapor as any top-performing juice I’ve ever tried. I don’t think it gets much better.

Throat hit:  ★★★★☆

Now, with a juice that has a wonderful blend of flavors and produces immense amounts of vapor, there’s got to be a downside, right? Typically yes, and I find that the throat hit is usually where that downside lays. However, the throat hit produced by Boba’s is darn near perfect. I’m sorry to say you’re NOT going to find a lack of “feeling” with this juice. Plenty of it, but not so much that it takes away from the experience. I love a good, solid throat hit and at 24mg this juice completely satisfies.

Consistency:  ★★★★☆

To say that Boba’s Bounty is a thick juice would be a huge understatement. This is by far the thickest juice I’ve ever used. It’s thick like molasses and that’s no joke. While this doesn’t make for optimal results in a cartomizer, it does make it quite a bit better for dripping into an atty. I really think it is probably impossible to flood an atty with this stuff. My understanding is that Ben created this juice (along with many others from his lineup) with drippers in mind, so I can’t really dock the juice for that. In fact, it’s made me fully appreciate my atties again on a big level.

Overall Score:  ★★★★¼

While it didn’t start off as such, this has quickly grown to become one of my favorite juices of all time. As soon as it “clicked” with me, I couldn’t put it down. Like I had mentioned earlier in the review I just placed an order for an 18ml bottle and by the time I’m through with it I will probably buck up and order 100 mils more. I suggest you go do the same!

I also have to add that this juice works just fine in DC cartimizers. You lose a little flavour and the ‘condom method’ essential on the first fill, but other than that DC carts work great!

Great review! I had the same experiance, in fact I actually disliked the juice at first then as you described it at some point after tying it a few times it just clicked! This juice reminds me of dekang cotton candy as the main flavour with some cocoa, vanilla, coconut and a smooth Turkish tobacco.
For me though (at 18mg) the throat hit is weak – I’d rate the throat hit 2 1/2 out of five, but agree with your other ratings.

The mystery flavor is COLA. It really is. Cola is a complex flavor when you remove the high fructose corn syrup and carbonated water. Try it again and tell me I’m wrong. Seriously it is Cola.

Couldn’t agree more with this review. I just recently upped and spent the $50 on the 100mL bottle. Best all day vape hands down!
